When he decided to bring the Curves for Women franchise to Canada, he recognized the need for substantial funding. He presented a meticulously crafted business plan to one of his professors at business college, a person he had intentionally built a relationship with due to their extensive business experience. Impressed by Shane’s detailed analysis and operational plan, this professor agreed to invest. Shane’s ability to showcase how he would run the business was critical in securing this initial funding.

But he didn't stop there. Leveraging the investment from his professor, Shane approached the Aboriginal Bank of Canada. His Aboriginal heritage opened this funding avenue, and he successfully obtained additional capital. Shane then used this combined capital as leverage to secure more funding from a local Aboriginal bank, multiplying his financial resources. The final piece of the puzzle was his family. They invested in his vision, providing the last portion of the funds needed. This investment from his family was not just financial; it was a vote of confidence in Shane's abilities and business plan.

With the money in place, Shane established the first Curves locations in Canada, setting the stage for a highly successful venture that would grow rapidly. Within a decade, the franchise transformed into a $4 billion empire. This was an extraordinary achievement, especially compared to the timelines of fast-food giants like McDonald's and Subway. These well-known brands took 25 years to reach the financial milestones that Curves achieved in just ten years. Shane's strategic foresight in choosing Curves over other potential franchises like Home Instead Senior Care was vindicated by this success.

Under Shane’s leadership, one of his family-operated Curves locations ranked within the top three most profitable in the entire franchise, generating millions in membership sales. Over the years, Shane has contributed his expertise to various organizations, serving on the boards of several high-profile companies, including those with valuations of over $100 million. His business acumen was not limited to his entrepreneurial ventures but extended to his philanthropic efforts. He dedicated many years to running and serving on the board of the local food bank.
